Membership criteria

  • Any North Central Association college or university that meets the following criteria is eligible to apply for membership:
    • The college or university must be an institution with North Central Association accreditation.
    • The college or university must be a not-for-profit institution. Any institution accepted for membership prior to October 1, 2002, is eligible to maintain membership status under previous by-laws as long as they have not lost membership privileges. If membership is lost, the school will be subject to the currently existing by-laws at the time of reapplication.
    • The college or university must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible for membership:
      • The college must have its main campus in Cuyahoga County or in any of the six counties contiguous to Cuyahoga County (Lorain, Medina, Summit, Portage, Geauga, and Lake).

         

        or

      • The college has an off-campus/satellite location, housed in its own separate facility in Cuyahoga County, which offers significant and continuing course work toward the completion of a college degree, i.e., satellite facility cannot be housed in another college or university.
    • Colleges interested in joining should apply in writing to the president who will then present the application for membership for discussion and vote at one of the two annual meetings. The condition of membership is acceptance of all member responsibilities.
    • Membership shall be limited to 18 colleges. Once the membership has reached 18, a waiting list will be established. Eligible colleges will be admitted from the waiting list in the order in which they appear.
